Accountability – Entrepreneurial Style
Article | Accountability Insights
Most successful entrepreneurs are hard-wired to See It, Own It, Solve It, and Do It. By nature and nurture, they inherently know that the most important of the four Steps To Accountability is Do It. In other words, they understand that taking the first three steps of See It, Own It, and Solve It produces little value if the final step of Do It is never taken in order to deliver the desired results.
A case in point is Oleg Firer, Co-Founder of Unified Payments, this year’s fastest growing company according to INC. magazine. Unified offers traditional and high-tech payment processing services to merchants throughout the U.S. Founded in 2007, Unified currently processes $10 billion in transactions for over a 100,000 merchants per year. Amazingly, the company’s most recent three-year growth rate was 23,646%.
Oleg was born in the Soviet Union and immigrated with his parents to the U.S. when he was 12. Growing up in New York’s Brighton Beach and Coney Island neighborhoods wasn’t easy for Oleg. But rather than get side-tracked into drugs or crime, Oleg learned fast, worked hard, and set high expectations for himself. He started a cell-phone retailing business at the age of 17. Twelve years later, he co-founded Unified Payments. Today, at the age of 35, Oleg describes his See It, Own It, Solve It, Do It entrepreneurial drive this way: “I got where I am because I wouldn’t take no for an answer. I always remember where I came from and that I could end up back there with nothing.”
